Welt or piping may apply in each situation, and should be noted, since it affects material and labor charges. In some models, or antiques, webbing or tension springs may be evident, attached in what we call a doughnut seat frame. Yardage will vary
depending upon each application (click here for yardage chart). Remember most rolls of fabric come in 54 inches; 1-1/2 yards will usually cover about four seats. Allow for cording/piping/welt, keeping in mind that using one length usually can equal 2-1/4 yards, running at 1-3/4-inch width ( this may be incorporated into the overall 1-1/2 yards i.e. then you would order 2-1/4 yards total , or in addition to depending on the size of the seats). Do the math, allow for 2 inch overlap in addition to your finish, this will be sufficient for pulling and a clean finish. Keep in mind if it seems as if you have some extra fabric, it can be possibly used for matching place mats, and /or a table runner.
